A Brand Focus | NYX

A new blog post series where every month or so I’ll be highlighting a brand that I’ve been loving. As you would have guessed from the title, I’m going to be focusing on NYX.

NYX is a fairly new cosmetics brand from the US that launched in the UK a few years ago, since then it’s popularity has increased substantially. It’s an affordable brand with quality to rival the higher end make up brands.

Within this series I will be discussing my most well-loved products of the chosen brand that I have tried and tested. My hope is that by sharing my recommendations with you, you too can find new products that you love.

The first item from NYX I’m currently loving is the Butt Naked- Turn The Other Cheek palette. It contains 15 eyeshadows, 8 of which are matts and 7 are shimmers. In a slide out drawer there’s also 4 blushers and 3 highlighters. I have yet to use the highlighters and blushers as I have other cheek products I want to finish first. However I have been using the eyeshadows a lot, as you can probably tell from the photos. The pigmentation is decent, not quite as intense as Morphe for example but still good eyeshadows that blend nicely. An added bonus is the mirror, the size and stability of it means you can set the palette down in front of you and do your make up with it. This palette retails for £20.00.

This is the first setting powder I’ve ever used. As I have combination skin, parts of my face tend to get shiny throughout the day. To combat that I’ve been using the NYX HD Studio Translucent Finishing Powder. It’s 100% pure mineral formula. I like that it doesn’t leave my face looking powdery but just gives it a nice matt finish. The packaging of this is very sleek in a glass tub and rivals it’s higher price competitors. This powder retails for £9.00.

I’ve featured the NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette in My Go To Everyday Make Up post so you will know I’m a big fan of this. The cooler toned bronzer I use for contouring my nose, this shade is perfect for me as it’s very subtle and makes my nose appear slimmer. The second bronzer along, which is a darker cooler toned shade, I use on the top of my head as if the sun had naturally kissed my skin. Depending on how tan I am I will either use the same bronzer for my cheeks or go for the the more warm toned bronzer that looks more orange in colour. For highlight I always use the lightest highlight, it is very buildable so you can gleam as little or as much as you like. The powders on this palette are so blendable and pigmented. For £3.50 in boots you can buy a single shade refill if you run out of one colour, there are other shades aswell as the ones above. The whole palette retails for £18.00.

Will I ever stop mentioning the NYX Vinyl Liquid Eyeliner? Probably not. It’s been in my recent October Favourites post and my Liquid Eyeliner Reviews & Swatches post. I’ve only had it just over a month but I can’t believe how good this is! It’s so black in colour, not patchy and dull, like some other eyeliners I’ve used. The brush is fine and soft which makes application so smooth. Best of all it doesn’t start to flake off or fade during the day, this baby stays put. Amazingly, this only retails for £6.00.

They’re my current top NYX products, I like other make up pieces but these four really stand out to me. I use them constantly and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone. What NYX products do you love? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading XOXO.

I’ve been wanting to try their iced mocha eyeshadow for ages but I think they only sell it in pencil shadow form now. Might have to just cave and give it a go though 😉

Love this brand, unfortunately the setting powder really didn’t work for me but the setting spray is one of my favs! x
