Known as the dupe for the infamous Shape Tape, this Makeup Revolution concealer has caused a storm in the beauty world. I managed to finally get my hands on my shade C1 when Superdrug restocked them. Here’s my review of the £4.00 concealer everyone’s talking about.
As usual I’m going to start off with the packaging which is a glass tube with rose gold. I think it’s really pretty, particularly for a drugstore product, which can look cheap and bland but this really stands out on the shelf.
The applicator is similar to the Shape Tape as it has a large doe foot which picks up plenty of product at once. However, the packaging is slightly misleading as it is quite a bulky tube and looks like there’s a decent amount in but compared to other drugstore concealers it has nearly half the amount. The Makeup Revolution concealer is 3.4ml.
Collection Lasting Perfection has 5ml and Maybelline Age Rewind has 6.8ml.
On first impressions, this concealer is very creamy and smooth to swatch. A lot of product comes out at once and it feels very thick. Whilst I was taking photos, I noticed how quickly the concealer began to dry. I thought this would make it harder to blend but infact, the concealer still merged into my skin beautifully.
Like I always do, I applied the concealer under my eyes, on my chin, on my forehead and down the bridge of my nose. I like my under eyes to be bright and the bit of rosacea on my cheeks to be concealed. Currently I’ve got a few spots and blemishes which I’m hoping to cover.
Here you can see the difference in my skin before and after the concealer had been applied. Of course the sun decided to play hide and seek so the lighting is slightly different but you can still tell how well the concealer performed. I’m very happy with the coverage under my eyes and my dark purple circles are less visible. Even my freckle was less noticeable. The formula is thick, pigmented and blends great.
After eight hours wear the concealer was still in place, except for my chin and nose. However, that may be due to me touching those areas of my face. It had faded slightly but not enough for me to feel self conscious. The concealer feels lightweight and dry. I can imagine if you have dry skin this could crease a little. My face is fairly oily so this dry formula is ideal for me as it’ll last longer.
Overall, I’m really pleased with this product. I haven’t tried the Tarte Tape Shape so I can’t compare it to that. The coverage I do believe has been majorly hyped up and I’m not convinced this is the best concealer ever. It does a great job however and I would purchase this again.
