I got my first Voxbox! Influenster kindly sent me two Marc Jacobs Highliners to review. They are a company that gives people a selection of free products in exchange for honest reviews. I will leave the website where you can find them at the end of the page.
I got the shades Deja Blue which is a bright pale blue and Earthquake which is a lovely chocolate brown. Initially I had wondered how I would wear the two as I usually just stick to a black eyeliner. The packaging is expensive looking which is expected from Marc Jacobs. I love how there was a booklet included with different looks to create.
First impressions of the Highliners are that they swatch beautifully. The formula is very creamy and glides along the skin smoothly. When I tried to wash the swatches off it proved difficult as they are really long lasting. You can turn the pencil at the bottom to expose more of the liner which is useful.
As I love a brown smokey eye, I immediately reached for the brown liner. I usually wear a black liquid eyeliner so I wasn’t sure if I would like using a brown pencil but I have been converted. The brown is more flattering to my eyes and looks less harsh than a dark black. It was easy to apply the Highliner on my eyelids and beneath my lower lash line. I think using a lighter shade makes me looks younger and is more suitable for everyday.
The next day I decided to try the blue Highliner. I put it in my waterline which I usually avoid as it irritates my eyes but this was comfortable. It didn’t make my eyes water, but it did make them look bigger and brighter. I’m definitely going to experiment more with colour after seeing the results. My only negative is that I wish the Highliner pencils were slightly thinner so application would be a bit more precise.
These Highliner crayons retail for £20.00 each which is a bit on the pricey side but they are a luxury product. If you’re not into high end make up these may not be for you.
That was my review for the Marc Jacobs Highliner. Thank you to Marc Jacobs Beauty and Influenster for giving me this opportunity to review these products. Even though I received the Highliners for free, this is my honest opinion and I wouldn’t recommend a product I didn’t like. I hope you enjoyed this review. Thanks for reading XOXO.
