New Beauty Releases: Buy Or Bye?

I’ve been a bit neglectful of my blogging duties the last couple of weeks. It’s taking me some time to get use to the new set up now I’m self hosted and I don’t think I’m receiving all of my notifications. To get me back into the swing of things, I wanted to do a fun post on new beauty releases and whether or not I’m adding to my cart or giving them the cold shoulder.

I got the name from an Irish YouTuber I watch, DramaticMac.

Too Faced Then & Now Eyeshadow Palette

I’m going to start this off with the new eyeshadow palette from Too Faced which was specially made for their 20th anniversary. It features their original shades from 1998 and their reinvented ones from 2018. With this palette it really bothers me that the shadows are different shapes and I know it’s about the performance but aesthetics are important to a lot of us as we see our makeup as art and this just doesn’t wow me. The colours look quite bland and boring so it’s a BYE from me.

Benefit 4-in-1 Brow Contour Pro Pen

We all know Benefit lead the way when it comes to the brow game and they’ve recently brought out a 4 in 1 contour pen so no more multiple products for your eyebrows. It does seem a bit fiddly but I am curious to try it out. Although at £28.50, that’s pretty expensive for a eyebrow pencil so it does put me off. I’d give this a BUY but only when their is an offer on.

GHD Gold By Lulu Guinness

GHD and Lulu Guinness have joined together to help fight breast cancer with a limited edition collection of haircare products. I adore the pearlescent pink colour of the straightners and the lips print. For every pair of straightners and hairdryer sold from the collection, £10.00 will be donated to Breast Cancer Now. I really want these and I’m in need of a new pair so it’s a BUY from me.

Charlotte Tilbury Bar Of Gold Highlighter

Another highlighter palette and this time from the luxurious brand Charlotte Tilbury. It features 3 x 2.5g of highlighters and retails for £49.00. Now, I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to spend that much money for such little product. I normally lust over Charlotte Tilbury products but this is a BYE from me.

Kat Von D Basket Case Eyeliner

Kat Von D has teamed up with her friend, the lead singer of Green Day, Billie Joe to create an anti-precision pencil eyeliner. It comes in a chubby pencil to help you achieve the perfect smokey eye. I do really like the idea of this eyeliner and if it wasn’t so chunky, I’d be interested but I prefer a slim liquid eyeliner. It’s an unfortunate BYE from me.

Kylie Cosmetics 21st Birthday Collection

It’s a celebratory collection from Miss Kylie Jenner for her 21st Birthday featuring party perfect, bright, colourful products. To put it simply, nothing in this collection interests me. From the packaging to the shades used, I am not drawn to it and it feels more suitable for teens. I prefer more of a luxe style packaging which this is not. I’ll say BYE to this.

NARS Climax Mascara

The final product on this post is the new Climax Mascara from NARS. For £21.00 you can have the volume you’ve always wanted with a buildable formula that doesn’t clump. I love a mascara but the drugstore do some great ones for a fraction of the price. I’d rather save my pennies and stick to a cheaper version which would probably just as good. I’m going to have to say BYE to this.

That’s it for this post, it seems I’m saying BYE to a lot of new products lately but if I’m not totally loving them, what’s the point in spending money just to have something. I really enjoyed giving my verdict on the new and upcoming beauty releases, please don’t be offended if my opinions are different to your own, we all like different things. I hope you enjoyed this post. Thanks for reading XOXO.
