Selfridges & Co Advent Calendar 2017

img_2569

I got treated to this Selfridges & Co Advent Calendar the other day and was allowed to open it all at once so thought I would so you what’s inside. This is sold out on Selfridges with other people currently selling it on eBay for more than the original asking price. If you’re thinking of purchasing it or just curious as to what’s inside then keep reading.

Days 1-6

ST Tropez Gradual Tan Tinted Everyday Body Lotion in 50ml
Lord & Berry Crayon Blush
Ouai Hair Finishing Creme in 15ml
Deborah Lippman Cuticle Oil in 8ml
The Bbrowbar Brow Exfoliator
Rodial Extreme Rush Peel in 20ml

To be honest with you, I was slightly disappointed at this selection of products. I don’t think I would ever used the Lord & Berry blush, I imagine it wouldn’t be the easiest to apply in crayon form, a powder would’ve been preferred. The cuticle oil and hair finishing creme are on the small size but may come in useful for healthier nails and hair. I am most pleased with the Rodial peel and the ST Tropez tinted body lotion.

Days 7-12

Liner Designer By BeautyBlender
This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray in 5ml
Dr Roebuck’s Face in 20ml
Eylure False Lashes in No 101
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream 8ml in Antwerp
Eve Lom Cleanser

I was slightly more pleased with these products than the previous six. However, I wasn’t too thrilled to get a Liner Designer from the brand BeautyBlender, why not put their sponge in? The lip creme from NYX is a lovely pink colour and I’m sure I’d get use out of the false eyelashes. I already have a bigger version of the pillow spray so that wasn’t too exciting. The Eve Lom & Dr Roebuck’s creams are premium so if you’re into luxury skincare this would be good for you.

Days 13-18

Cowshed Soothing Hand Cream in 50ml
Eyeko Black Magic Mascara
It Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil
Erborian CC Crème
Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask
Omorovicza Refining Facial Polisher

I’ve got 3 out of 6 of these products already from beauty boxes so would’ve preferred different items for an expensive calendar to what you typically get inside cheaper beauty boxes. The brands are pretty well known which is a bonus. It’s a little disheartening however how it’s mainly skincare in here. I would’ve liked more of a variety than just products for your face.

Days 19-24

img_2573

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturising Sorbet in 15ml
Cover FX Mattifying Primer in 5ml
Molton Brown Rhubarb & Rose Shower Gel
Tweezerman Nail Clippers
3Ina Pen Liquid Eyeliner
Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel

I’m not sure how I feel about this selection of products. I’ve never tried anything from the majority of these brands so don’t know well they will perform. Hopefully, the eyeliner is thin and applies smoothly. I am slightly disappointed that there is nail clippers from a tweezer brand rather than a decent pair of tweezers. I’ve already got the Dr Dennis Gross peels from a beauty box so would’ve preferred something new. The Cover FX primer looks interesing so looking forward to trying that.

Overall, I would recommend this calendar if you’re big into skincare, particularly for your face. If you love make up I would advise to stay clear as it’s an expensive calendar and there isn’t much cosmetics to enjoy.

I hope you enjoyed reading this opening of the Selfridges & Co Beauty Advent Calendar. What do you think of the products inside? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading XOXO.

I’ve tried a couple of these, one being the rodial peel – if you having sensitive skin or even remotely dry skin this is super drying and really irritating; it stings past the point of ‘a tingle which feels like it’s doing something to your skin’ and left my skin paler than the rest of my face after, which died down after a few minutes but was worrying at the time!! The beauty blender liner designer looks interesting but I can see how a sponge would’ve been preferred x
